Reflections:
A caravan park is what it is – not all of them are the same and it’s what you need at the time which points to a good or bad experience i.e. I was desperate for cool so pools and shade were a huge focus for me at this time. But, the best animal experience was at Longreach, where there was no shade.
Best free camp: Calliope
Best Experiences:
- Nindigully Pig Races – for the fun and entertainment
- Begonia Station (for me) as I was able to get back to Dad’s past
- Stockman’s Hall of Fame – no one else around and we were able to linger and take photographs without any human interaction
- Cooktown – a new reason to love FNQ
We enjoyed our trip so much and Pepe was the ideal companion. Neither of us really wanted to come home but we know we must come back to reality at some point. The trip left us with an even more deep seated longing to take off on our lap around this amazing country of ours.
Until then though, we will be taking Matilda (the camper trailer) out as much as possible. Future posts will be on short trips (a weekend) and some longer ones when we get holidays (1-4 weeks). We do hope you’ve enjoyed the blog on our trip.
In our next post, I found some videos that I took during the Nindigully Pig Races and the entertainment that surrounded that night. It was far too late to include them in the original blog post, so thought I’d share in their own blog post.
Cheers til next post 🙂
